‘It’s down to me’ – Ryan Whitley on York City starting spot

RYAN WHITLEY has emphasised that earning the number one shirt at York City is “ down to him ” after subscribing a two- time extension with the club.

Whitley will be staying at the LNER Community Stadium until 2024, having inked his first professional deal with the club in 2017.
The former Scarborough Athletic loanee is the only verified goalkeeper coming season so far, after Peter Jameson departed last month for Harrogate Town.

City also verified that midfielder Mitch Hancox had committed for coming term after his release from Hereford.
Hancox scored nine pretensions in 34 league matches on loan at the Minstermen last season.

“ I feel valued then so the chance to get it done and over the line, I could n’t say no really, ” noted Hancox.
York now have eight verified team members for the2022/23 season in the Vanarama National League, in Whitley, Hancox, Scott Boden, Paddy McLaughlin, Maxim Kouogun, Olly Dyson, Alex Hurst and Maziar Kouhyar.
