Condemned killer Oscar Pistorius has met with the father of Reeva Steenkamp, the woman he killed in 2013.
The Steenkamp family counsel said Barry Steenkamp met face- to- face on with Pistorius on June 22 as part of what is known in South Africa as a victim- lawbreaker dialogue.

It gives victims of crimes or their cousins a chance to meet with the malefactors, if they choose to, before the lawbreaker can be eligible for parole.

” We extend our love and support to Barry and June who shared in the process in preparing them for a meeting with Oscar Pistorius,” the Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation said on social media.

” Barry eventually met with Oscar on 22 June 2022 for the Victim lawbreaker Dialogue.”

Pistorius — formerly a double- amputee track star who made history by running at the Olympics — came eligible for parole last time, eight times after killing Steenkamp in his home in the South African capital, Pretoria.

Pistorius, who’s now 35, was eventually condemned of murder in 2015 after a long and dramatic trial and multitudinous prayers.

He was doomed to 13 times and five months in captivity.

He has served utmost of his judgment at a captivity in Pretoria but was moved to a installation in the southern megacity of Gqeberha, the Steenkamps’ home city, ahead of the meeting with Barry Steenkamp.

Pistorius’s first parole hail cancelled

South African Olympic and Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius became eligible for parole last year.

A parole hail for Pistorius was listed for last time but it was cancelled because he hadn’t yet met with Ms Steenkamp’s parents.
In South Africa, those condemned of a serious crime must serve at least half their judgment before they’re eligible for parole.
Pistorius had formerly served time in jail after being originally condemned of reproachable homicide — a charge analogous to manslaughter — before an appeal by prosecutors redounded in that being capsized and him being condemned of murder.

Pistorius must still attend a parole hail, where department of corrections officers will decide if he should be released beforehand.

Pistorius’s counsel, Julian Knight, said last time that he’d been” a model internee” and met the conditions for parole.

Pistorius was born with a natural condition that led to both his legs being reattached below the knee when he was a baby.

He came a multiple Paralympic sprinting champion running on carbon- fiber blades, and indeed good to contend against the world’s stylish suitable- bodied athletes at the 2012 London Olympics.

But his image as an inspiring figure in sports was shattered when he shot the 29- time-old Steenkamp multiple times through a restroom door in his house in the early hours of Valentine’s Day 2013.

He claimed he mistook her for an meddler but was condemned of a charge similar to alternate- degree murder because he acted so recklessly by firing through the restroom door with his 9 mm dynamo.
